Casey's final words to Phyllis, January 20, 2009

I lie with you upon my death and cheer
this life that mocks mortality with love
that at this final moment calls you near
preferred against all wonders stirred above.
To see your face as my eyes dim I trade
the light of everlasting suns that glow
so weakly now their glare can only shade
the warmer flame I intimately know.
We have already filled my happy soul
with all the lasting wealth one man can hold.
Your company made my existence whole
and gives me this last triumph to enfold
by lying here to make my life complete
as, clasped together, death we now defeat.
